Definitely not how I planned it to turn out. Got a horrible start cuz I was on the second line and someone fell in front of me right after the gun. Got swallowed by the pack and tried to avoid the piles of people falling down but finally tripped over somebody and went down. Got up and started working up, 70th something place at the mile. Worked into the 20s with a mile to go, didn’t get past there. It took a lot to try and avoid panicking and focus on moving, moving, moving. And of course I felt sick to my stomach, I think due to prerace nerves or midrace anxiety. I’m pretty sure that covers all the excuses haha. Thinking back on it, I don’t know how much more I could’ve done in my situation. I maybe could’ve been more aggressive after I fell but who knows how much more energy that would’ve taken from the last mile. Really disappointed considering I had higher expectations for myself at nationals. My last high school cross country race should’ve been one of my best, but I guess everyone can’t have a great race. Time to learn, take a break, and move on to track.

Ryan,

I know it wasn't where you were hoping to finish, but congrats on still toughing it out, 25th isn't bad. You'll come back, keep your head up and keep things in perspective. You're a great runner man, good luck with your track season!

I saw you collapse at the finish line and knew you had a rough race. Maybe get revenge at indoors?

Bummer, when I saw the results I knew something had happened. Surprising that they didn't stop the race. They've stopped the Murray Invite 3 times when someone has fallen (but that's atrocious). Do you know why they didn't stop it? Anyway, I second the notion that you ran a good race considering. Nothing you can do about it and the mental tenacity to tough it out and also run the best race you can. Kudos
